The contest is open to scriptwriters in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
The script must be original, unpublished and consistent with SCF’s mission statement: “Make movies that inspire, entertain, inform, educate and provoke”. It should draw attention to important societal issues such as (but not limited to) climate change, social justice, health care, inequality, immigration.
The script length should be between 15 and 30 pages and follow industry standard screenplay format.
Entries should include a summary cover page and the script itself. The summary page should contain: (a) a brief summary of the movie; (b) the main characters; and (c) a brief description of each scene and setting.
The rights to the script shall remain with the scriptwriter.
SCF will judge the scripts on the basis of: (a) adherence to SCF mission statement; (b) originality; (c) artistic merit; (d) character development; (e) story flow, the conflict or issue and its resolution; and (f) feasibility of bringing the script to film.
Scripts shall be submitted for consideration exclusively thorough FilmFreeway. The deadline for submitting your entry is September 15, 2020. SCF will announce the winners by October 31, 2020.
